en.Wedoany.com Reported - Getnet has launched a new generation of smart terminals integrated with generative conversational artificial intelligence (AI), enabling payment processing through voice commands at merchant counters.

Getnet, a payment solutions fintech company in Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula, stated that this innovation transforms retail terminals from mere transaction devices into intelligent platforms capable of interacting with merchants and revolutionizing the payment experience. In practice, merchants activate the conversational AI by pressing a button on the side of the machine and interact with the device via voice. For example, when a merchant says "Debit card, 20.50 reais," the machine recognizes the command and automatically displays the payment interface.
Another feature is the GetAI assistant available on the terminal screen, serving as a conversational chat tool to support merchants' daily activities and answer questions about products, services, and operational processes. Merchants can inquire about information such as "Which card brands does your machine support?" and receive support regarding terminal usage and solutions. These innovations are the result of the new generation of smart terminals that Getnet has been introducing to the market since this month.
To enable real-time generative conversational AI on the terminal, the hardware has been upgraded, including enhanced processing power and microphones for capturing voice commands. Getnet's Technical Director, Alexandre Andrade, explained that with a high-performance octa-core processor and two dedicated microphones, the Android terminal is not just a payment device but also allows customers to interact via voice and receive real-time guidance, simplifying daily operations. This solution was fully developed in-house by Getnet's technical team and is currently operational in commercial establishments in São Paulo and Porto Alegre.
In Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul state, Empório Andrade was one of the first locations to test this technology, currently processing an average of approximately 130 transactions per day via voice commands. Store owner Natália Fortes emphasized that customers are amazed when they see voice interaction in action, making it a differentiating advantage for the store. The next phase of the project plans to integrate generative AI with the point-of-sale (PDV) management system, expanding the terminal's role beyond payments to support activities such as querying operational information, finding orders, and accessing menus, thereby enhancing team productivity.
Getnet's Product Director, Mayra Borges, stated that this launch represents another step in simplifying the customer experience, with the next generation of retail solutions focusing not only on financial transactions but also on the ability to streamline merchants' overall operations. By combining artificial intelligence, advanced hardware, management platform integration, and voice commands, a solution has been created that delivers tangible productivity improvements. Getnet operates in Brazil (a leader in e-commerce), Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Spain, and Portugal, processing over 238 billion euros across 10.5 billion transactions in 2025, serving 1.2 million customers.
