en.Wedoany.com Reported - TEXEL Air Australasia has signed up to operate charter cargo services at the soon-to-open Western Sydney International (WSI) Airport's 24-hour freight precinct, with the first commercial cargo aircraft scheduled to land on Sunday, July 26.

WSI CEO Simon Hickey said Texel Air's involvement will enhance Sydney's air cargo capacity and drive new trade and employment opportunities. With just weeks to go until the WSI freight precinct opens, it's great to have Texel Air on board, bringing next-generation capabilities and capacity to deliver superior air cargo and logistics services.

Hickey noted that Texel Air will join top cargo terminal operators such as Qantas Freight, Menzies Aviation, and dnata Cargo as another key partner in the hub's launch this month. Both exporters and importers will benefit from the integrated freight precinct, which offers 24-hour operational capability, dedicated access via the recently upgraded Northern Road, and proximity to the major freight and logistics hub at Kemps Creek and industrial land under development in the Aerotropolis.

Texel Air's Boeing 737-800BCF fleet is capable of supporting these customers, thereby strengthening the services of its core domestic partners, who move cargo nationwide each week, while also providing international charter capabilities to help clients access more lucrative global markets.

Texel Air founder and chairman John Chisholm pointed out that the WSI platform aligns closely with the airline's operating model and long-term growth plans. He believes WSI is a transformative infrastructure for Australian air cargo, enabling sustained, reliable 24-hour operations, and Texel Air can provide flexible, on-demand aircraft capacity to support this goal, thereby complementing existing cargo networks and enhancing overall supply chain resilience. The airline's ability to respond quickly to customer needs, regular cargo flows, and time-sensitive shipments is exactly what the 24-hour freight precinct enables. Additionally, WSI provides Texel Air with a platform to expand charter and scheduled support services into and out of Sydney with greater efficiency than traditional airports.
