en.Wedoany.com Reported - Galilee Energy has officially spudded the Zydeco-1 well in Acadia Parish, Louisiana, marking the company's first drilling operation along the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Operations have transitioned from preparation and rig installation to active drilling. Galilee Energy holds a 100% working interest and a 70% net revenue interest in the Zydeco oil and gas project. Initial operations include drilling and setting 9-5/8 inch casing to approximately 2,200 feet true vertical depth (TVD), with logging continuing through the Homeseekers B sand. Subsequent plans involve setting 7-inch casing at approximately 9,319 feet TVD, then advancing to the upper Tweedle zone at approximately 9,577 feet TVD and the lower Tweedle zone at approximately 9,975 feet TVD.

The well targets conventional Gulf Coast condensate gas reservoirs, with unrisked prospective resource estimates of up to 13.7 billion cubic feet of natural gas and 610,000 barrels of condensate. The well location was selected based on modern geological studies and 3D seismic data, positioned as a low-risk offset to the Maccabees et al. B-1 well. The project encompasses 325.3 acres of mineral leases, near producing fields and adjacent to a natural gas lateral connecting to the Texas gas pipeline.

After drilling through the upper Tweedle and lower Tweedle formations, electric logging will assess hydrocarbon potential to determine whether target sands contain pay zones and if reservoir quality supports completion. Galilee Energy plans to release its next major update after electric logging, expected around August 2026. If commercial viability is confirmed, completion and tie-in to existing pipeline infrastructure are planned immediately.

Galilee Energy Managing Director Joseph Graham stated that spudding Zydeco-1 is an extremely exciting moment for Galilee, with the team performing excellently in preparing safely, on time, and within budget. Drilling is taking place in one of the most productive oil and gas regions in the U.S., targeting a high-impact conventional condensate gas opportunity. If logging results confirm pay zones, the company expects to move quickly into completion, surface facilities, and pipeline connection phases.
