en.Wedoany.com Reported - The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is testing a simplified acreage reporting process to help producers meet the primary reporting deadline of July 15 for spring-planted crops.

The Farm Service Agency (FSA) stated that this pilot is part of the government's "One Farmer, One File" initiative, aimed at transitioning from paper maps to electronic interfaces, reducing the paperwork burden for producers and county office staff.

The pilot covers all counties in Maryland and North Dakota, as well as selected counties in Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Producers outside the pilot areas will continue to report acreage through the standard process.

Acreage reports typically require information such as crop type, intended use, acreage, boundaries, planting dates, shares, irrigation practices, prevented planting or failed acreage, with deadlines varying by county and crop.

Producers can access farm records, maps, common land units, and shapefile files through the farmers.gov portal, and can also share electronic geospatial reports using precision planting boundaries with the FSA.

Producers are advised to contact their local USDA Service Center immediately to confirm acreage reporting deadlines and required documents.
