en.Wedoany.com Reported - The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has recently launched an online tool called Eagle CRoute, which helps container ship operators enhance operational flexibility by calculating route-based container lashing reduction factors.

Currently, changes in port call sequences, blank sailings, evolving stowage plans, and shifting geopolitical conditions are putting greater time pressure on operators when making loading decisions. Eagle CRoute supports these decisions by calculating reduction factors for lashing force assessments on specific routes.

Dr. Christina Wang, ABS Vice President of Engineering Applications, stated that container ship operators need practical tools to help them quickly respond to changing operational conditions without sacrificing safety. Eagle CRoute enables operators to evaluate loading plans for specific routes and leverage the flexibility provided by ABS lashing notations.

Based on a vessel's lashing notation, Eagle CRoute can determine different types of reduction factors. For vessels with the CLP-V notation, the tool calculates reduction factors for the entire route. For vessels with the CLP-V(PARR) notation, it provides more detailed calculations, including segment-specific reduction factors between designated ports and seasonal reduction factors based on different times of the year.

Eagle CRoute also includes the capability to calculate reduction factors for short-sea voyages where the journey between two ports is less than 72 hours, taking into account weather and wave forecast information. By integrating these features into a single online tool, Eagle CRoute supports more efficient planning of container ship operations.

Christoph Rasewsky, Head of ABS Global Container Division, stated that the combination of route segmentation, seasonal adjustments, and short-sea voyage calculations offers container operators a new level of flexibility. By providing operators with a more precise way to apply lashing reduction factors, Eagle CRoute helps unlock loading opportunities while supporting safer and more efficient operations.
