en.Wedoany.com Reported - Chattogram Port handled a record 3.52 million TEUs of containers in the 2025-26 fiscal year, with cargo throughput and vessel traffic also hitting new historical highs, reflecting the sustained strong growth momentum of Bangladesh's busiest seaport. Increased port revenue and improved operational efficiency indicate enhanced trade flows and smoother terminal performance.
According to data from the Chattogram Port Authority, container throughput in FY2026 reached 3,518,841 TEUs, a 6.76% increase from 3,296,067 TEUs in the previous fiscal year. During the same period, cargo throughput totaled 138,072,826 metric tons, and vessel handling also rose, helping the port maintain "zero waiting time" at its outer anchorage.
Port revenue and surplus also set records in the fiscal year. Officials stated that the average turnaround time for container vessels at the port has shortened, reducing operating costs for shipping companies and supporting faster import and export flows. Despite broader trade headwinds, the port's throughput still increased, demonstrating its continued capacity expansion and operational discipline. The new performance benchmarks further solidify Chattogram Port's position as the primary gateway for Bangladesh's international trade.
