en.Wedoany.com Reported - Monotch and the Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) in California jointly announced a U.S. pilot project demonstrating how TLEX cloud deployment leverages U.S. traffic signal standards to enable real-time connected mobility services.

Both organizations are active members of the Coast-to-Coast (C2C) transatlantic collaboration. The project originated from a C2C delegation (including CCTA leadership) visiting the Netherlands, where they witnessed the nationwide deployment of the TLEX platform.

The demonstration site is located on Treat Boulevard in Concord, California. The actual pilot is conducted by CCTA in partnership with the City of Concord, with support from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

During the one-year field pilot, TLEX established real-time bidirectional connectivity with Cubic traffic signal controllers (TLC) in accordance with U.S. standards. The first phase of deployment focused on laying the technical foundation for connected mobility in the U.S. context, including intersection topology, real-time data exchange, and automated data quality control.

The second phase of the project will also explore connected mobility use cases and operational functions, including Green Light Optimal Speed Advisory (GLOSA) and Time to Green (TTG), priority and preemption, support for maintenance and management processes, and multi-jurisdictional capabilities.

Tim Haile, Executive Director of CCTA, stated that the project demonstrates what is possible when public agencies, technology providers, and international partners collaborate on practical connected mobility innovation. By showcasing real-time bidirectional data exchange with existing traffic signal infrastructure, it lays the foundation for safer, smarter, and more coordinated mobility services.

For Monotch, this project marks a significant step in bringing its proven TLEX platform capabilities to the U.S. market. Menno Malta, CEO of Monotch, explained that TLEX already supports large-scale connected mobility ecosystems in Europe, and this deployment shows that the same platform approach can adapt to U.S. standards and infrastructure, proving that any road management agency can build upon existing traffic infrastructure while preparing for next-generation connected mobility services.

This project provides a scalable foundation for future applications such as GLOSA, traffic signal priority, preemption, emergency vehicle alerts, and numerous other connected mobility services.
