en.Wedoany.com Reported - Brazilian company FLUXO Soluções Integradas is advancing the local manufacturing of desalting equipment to address pre-treatment challenges arising from increased pre-salt crude oil production. CEO Fábio André stated that this initiative is closely linked to the technological upgrade of the domestic refinery network, with projects underway at strategic facilities such as the Duque de Caxias Refinery (REDUC) and the Presidente Bernardes Refinery (RPBC), reflecting this modernization trend.

Desalting equipment plays a strategic role in Brazil's refinery modernization

The sustained growth in Brazil's pre-salt oil production has drawn increased attention to the pre-treatment stage before crude oil is sent to refining units. Desalting, a critical step in this process, removes water, salt, and solid contaminants, thereby reducing corrosion, scaling, and premature failure of thermal and mechanical equipment. This directly impacts the stability of refining operations and lowers the risk of unplanned shutdowns.

A significant portion of the desalting units currently operating in Brazil were installed approximately fifty years ago. Designed for crude oil types vastly different from those produced today, they struggle to meet current demands for productivity and cost control. This situation reinforces the need to modernize infrastructure in line with domestic production characteristics.

Fábio André noted that FLUXO has begun manufacturing desalting equipment in Brazil under a technology license from U.S.-based NEET Process. Local production reduces reliance on external suppliers, allows engineering designs to better align with local needs, and expands the availability of technical support. The executive believes that industry evolution requires a combination of technologies to improve operational reliability, safety, and performance—a trend that is advancing in Brazil.

This perspective also guides FLUXO's participation in the Bahia Oil & Gas Energy exhibition, where it showcases technologies addressing various industry challenges, strengthening the alignment between internationally developed solutions and Brazilian market demands. As domestic production grows and operations become more complex, integrating new technologies into processes such as oil pre-treatment is key to preparing infrastructure for the next growth cycle in Brazil's oil and gas sector.
