en.Wedoany.com Reported - During a visit to Atyrau Region, Ashat Khassenov, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG), inspected the construction site of the Silleno plant with an annual capacity of 1.25 million tons of polyethylene, where the project's overall progress has reached 36%.

The Silleno plant is about to enter the large-equipment installation phase. A fractionation column for the cracking unit, manufactured by Kazakhstan's AtyrauNeftMash, is now in place and ready for installation. The column stands 101.8 meters tall, has a diameter of 7.5 meters, and weighs approximately 1,500 tons. To complete the lifting, a crawler crane with a lifting capacity of 4,000 tons has been delivered to the site and assembled—one of the largest cranes of its kind in the world.

In the ethylene cracking unit area, concrete pouring for the foundations of buildings, equipment, and pipe racks is 57% complete. Metal structure installation and prefabrication of process piping are progressing in parallel. Installation of cracking furnaces and cryogenic storage tanks has begun, and the first batch of large equipment has arrived at the construction site. Piling work for the polymerization unit and the plant's utility facilities is 74% complete, with foundation pouring currently underway.

Since the start of construction and installation works, the project has achieved 6 million safe man-hours with no recordable injuries and no lost time incidents (LTI). More than 3,400 workers are currently on site, with 600 units of specialized equipment deployed.

Localized procurement is a key focus of the project's implementation. To date, KMG has signed contracts totaling $1.205 billion with Kazakhstani enterprises, covering the entire project implementation process, including design, equipment and materials production, and construction and installation works.

At a concurrent meeting on the implementation of large oil and gas chemical projects, the head of KMG received reports on the progress of the gas separation complex (GSC) at the Tengiz field and the construction of ethane and propane trunk pipelines. This infrastructure, implemented by KMG Petrochem, will supply feedstock to a future gas chemical plant upon completion. At the GSC construction site, piling for 17,344 piles has been completed, foundation pouring for production facilities has commenced, and overall progress exceeds 23%.

The GSC project also emphasizes the participation of local enterprises. Orders have been placed with Kazakhstani manufacturers for propane storage tanks, power distribution substations, pile foundations, and other products. Additionally, 2 process columns measuring 27 meters in length and 17 pressure storage tanks will be manufactured locally in Kazakhstan. More than 2,800 workers are currently deployed at the construction site, with over 77% being local residents of Atyrau Region.
