Rajat Kumar Saini, Managing Director and CEO of the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC), elaborated on this initiative at the 4th ICC NicerGlobe LogNext 2026 conference held in Mumbai. He stated that this move aims to strengthen India's position in global manufacturing and supply chains. The conference, themed "Beyond the Horizon: Designing Chemical Supply Chains for an Uncertain Decade," is a flagship event for chemical supply chain and logistics organized by the Indian Chemical Council (ICC), with KPMG serving as the knowledge partner.

In his opening address, Saini noted that the Indian government remains committed to creating comprehensive industrial corridors, multimodal transport logistics infrastructure, and world-class manufacturing ecosystems to enhance the nation's competitiveness in global supply chains. He particularly emphasized that coordinated infrastructure development and policy support will play a key role in accelerating the growth of India's chemical manufacturing sector.

Vishnu Sharma, representing NICDC under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, outlined the government's vision of creating a globally competitive industrial ecosystem through comprehensive industrial corridors and world-class logistics infrastructure. He argued that seamless multimodal connectivity, smart industrial townships, and sustainable infrastructure are crucial for enhancing India's manufacturing competitiveness and positioning the country as a preferred global destination for chemical production and supply chains.

Samir Somaiya, Vice Chairman of ICC and Chairman and Managing Director of Godavari Biorefineries Limited, stated at the conference's opening that the chemical industry is entering a transformative phase where supply chains must go beyond mere efficiency to become resilient, intelligent, sustainable, and future-ready. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among industry, government, and technology partners to solidify India's status as a global hub for chemical manufacturing and logistics.

Aman Sethi, Partner for Oil, Gas, and Chemicals at KPMG, noted while setting the conference agenda that the global business environment is rapidly changing due to geopolitical uncertainties, evolving trade corridors, digital transformation, sustainability requirements, and shifting customer expectations. He stated that the conference aims to provide practical insights and strategic direction for the next phase of chemical logistics development.

Patrick Hore, Global Vertical Head for Energy, Chemicals, and Raw Materials at A.P. Møller – Maersk A/S, delivered a keynote speech, offering a global perspective on the transformation of chemical supply chains. He emphasized the need to build resilient logistics networks to address geopolitical disruptions, trade adjustments, digital innovation, and decarbonization challenges while ensuring business continuity and long-term competitiveness.

During the conference, a comprehensive white paper compiled by KPMG was released, providing strategic insights into the evolving chemical logistics landscape, emerging risks, technological transformation, sustainability priorities, and pathways to building future-ready supply chains. Additionally, the conference recognized enterprises with outstanding performance in health, safety, environmental protection, security, and sustainability by awarding new certifications and recertifications of the Responsible Care Logo Certificates.
