Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 20, Eneco, Lindewind, and Zeeuwind have finalized financing to repower the ZE-BRA wind farm, located along the boundary between Zeeland and Noord-Brabant in The Netherlands. The project aims to replace existing infrastructure with more efficient technology to enhance renewable energy production.

Currently, the three companies operate nineteen wind turbines in the region. These will be replaced with fifteen modern, high-efficiency turbines. Fourteen turbines will be installed in Reimerswaal, Zeeland, and one in Woensdrecht, Noord-Brabant. The project has secured an SDE subsidy and all necessary permits, enabling the finalization of contracts to move forward with construction.

H4A will handle civil engineering tasks, including foundations, access roads, and crane bases. Hanab will manage the installation of cables and electrical infrastructure, while Enercon will supply and erect the wind turbines. “This collaboration allows us to upgrade the ZE-BRA wind farm with advanced technology, contributing to sustainable energy goals,” said a representative from Eneco.

Construction is set to begin with Hanab laying cables in June to connect the site to the grid. H4A will start civil engineering work around mid-August. If the timeline proceeds as planned, Enercon will install the turbines in April 2026, with the first units operational by October 2026. The wind farm is expected to be fully operational by January 1, 2027.

Eneco will own nine turbines, representing 60% of the ZE-BRA wind farm, while Zeeuwind and Lindewind will share ownership of the remaining six through their joint venture, Windpark Westerschelde. “The repowering of ZE-BRA reflects our commitment to delivering clean energy and supporting local communities,” said a spokesperson for Zeeuwind.

Once operational, the upgraded wind farm is projected to generate approximately 220,000 MWh of renewable energy annually, sufficient to power over 83,000 households. The project emphasizes efficiency and sustainability, aligning with The Netherlands’ renewable energy objectives. “By modernizing the ZE-BRA wind farm, we aim to maximize energy output while minimizing environmental impact,” said a Lindewind representative.

The repowering initiative showcases a collaborative effort to advance green energy infrastructure. By leveraging advanced turbines and streamlined construction, Eneco, Lindewind, and Zeeuwind are enhancing the region’s capacity to produce clean energy, contributing to a more sustainable future for Zeeland and Noord-Brabant.
