en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Liuchuhe Grand Bridge, part of the Anshun-Panzhou section of the Guizhou expansion project of the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway (referred to as the "Anpan Expressway"), achieved its double-arch closure on June 30, 2026. The bridge was constructed with participation from China Railway Industry Co., Ltd. (CRI) and China Railway Science and Industry Group Co., Ltd. (CRSG), both subsidiaries of China Railway Group Limited. It is the first double-steel-tube arch bridge on an expressway in Guizhou.

The left span of the Liuchuhe Grand Bridge has a total length of 892.40 meters, and the right span measures 890.40 meters, with the bridge deck towering 409 meters above the canyon floor. The maximum segment weight of the main arch ring is 160 tons, and the main bridge adopts a two-span 2×263.457-meter deck-type concrete-filled steel tube variable-section truss arch.
China Railway Group Limited is a globally leading comprehensive infrastructure construction group headquartered in Beijing, with businesses covering survey, design, construction, installation, and equipment manufacturing in engineering fields such as railways, highways, municipal works, housing construction, and urban rail transit. China Railway Industry Co., Ltd. is the industrial segment listed company under China Railway Group Limited, with core businesses including the R&D and manufacturing of tunnel construction equipment, steel structures, turnouts, and engineering machinery. China Railway Science and Industry Group Co., Ltd. is a specialized company under CRI engaged in large steel structures, bridge equipment, and construction machinery, boasting extensive engineering experience in the manufacturing and installation of super-long-span bridge steel structures.

The Liuchuhe Grand Bridge, which achieved closure, is located in a canyon area of the Guizhou Plateau, with a vertical drop of 409 meters from the bridge deck to the canyon floor. The construction site is narrow, material transportation is difficult, and high-altitude operations pose significant risks. The project team used a cable crane lifting process for precise aerial alignment and welding of the main arch segments, employing high-precision measurement and real-time monitoring systems to ensure the closure accuracy met design requirements. With the successful closure of the double arch, bridge construction will fully transition to subsequent phases, including concrete pouring inside the arch rib tubes, installation of arch columns, and bridge deck panels.

This project is a critical control node of the Guizhou expansion project of the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway. The Shanghai-Kunming Expressway is a key component of the national expressway network, and the implementation of the Anshun-Panzhou section expansion will effectively alleviate traffic pressure on the existing western section of the Guizhou portion of the expressway. Once the Liuchuhe Grand Bridge is completed, travel time across the canyon will be reduced from the current 1 hour to approximately 3 minutes, significantly optimizing the regional road network structure and promoting resource development and economic and social progress along the route.
