en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Port Authority of A Coruña (Autoridad Portuaria de A Coruña) has announced the expansion of the A3 terminal at the outer port of Langosteira to create a new liquid bulk berth, a move aimed at advancing the planned relocation of the Repsol terminal from the San Diego dock.

According to a statement from the port authority, the tender notice has been sent to the Official Journal of the European Union and will be published in the coming days on the public sector procurement platform, along with the relevant tender documents. The base budget for the tender is 11 million euros, with a construction period of 12 months, and the new berth is expected to be operational by the end of 2027.
Currently, the A terminal at the outer port of Langosteira has a total length of 1,560 meters, with water depths ranging from 21.85 meters (A1 terminal) to 15.35 meters (A3 terminal). This expansion project plans to extend the southern end of the A3 terminal by 60 meters, using two large concrete caissons, each 30 meters long, which will be constructed on-site at Punta Langosteira. The work also includes the setback of adjacent areas and adjustments to the internal layout of the small vessel dock, which serves pilot boats, mooring boats, and security forces.
Regarding the new berth, the port authority detailed that it is designed to accommodate vessels with a deadweight tonnage of up to 50,000 tons and a length of 186 meters. In addition to the port works undertaken by the port authority, Repsol will allocate 25 million euros to equip the berth with loading arms, control and safety systems, and operator facilities.
The port authority stated that the final relocation of the terminal to Punta Langosteira reaffirms the company's commitment to the industrial development of Galicia and strongly supports the goal of establishing an energy hub at the outer port. At the same time, this move will free up 90,000 square meters of space at the San Diego dock, a key component of the "Coruña Marítima" project.
