en.Wedoany.com Reported - Scientific Research Institute of Instrumentation and Manufacturing Joint-Stock Company (abbreviated as SNIIP JSC, a subsidiary of Rosatom's Automation Control Systems and Electrical Technologies business division) has completed the equipping of the "nuclear island" monitoring system for Unit 3 of the Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant. Located in Liaoning Province, China, the plant is being built using the Russian VVER-1200 design.

SNIIP experts have completed the manufacturing and installation supervision services for the hardware and software integrated complex within the Nuclear Island Monitoring System (СКУ). Currently, commissioning work for the Russian-supplied monitoring equipment is underway at the Unit 3 site. The technical solutions adopted in the development and production of the information measurement complex for the process automation control system have been proven over many years, enabling reliable monitoring of key reactor parameters, equipment status diagnostics, reactor protection functions, and fire safety protection. The scope of supply also includes laboratory equipment and a full-scale simulator.

Alexei Nikitin, General Director of SNIIP JSC, stated: "The Chinese direction represents a series of historically significant large-scale projects for SNIIP, where we provide not individual instruments but comprehensive solutions for nuclear island monitoring, management, diagnostics, fire protection, and other specialized systems. These hardware and software complexes operate as part of the plant-wide automation control system, providing reliable information on the reactor plant status and supporting critical safety functions. We have now completed the phase work for Unit 3 of the Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant, while continuing similar work for Unit 4 and Unit 8 of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant. This model allows us to apply accumulated experience and a unified supply technology logic across multiple Russian VVER-1200 projects in China."

Previously, SNIIP JSC had completed the supply and commissioning of the monitoring system for Unit 7 of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant. Currently, four new VVER-1200 units are under construction in China, including Units 7 and 8 at the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant in Jiangsu Province, and Units 3 and 4 at the Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant. This is part of the large-scale intergovernmental cooperation plan between China and Russia for the peaceful use of atomic energy.

The Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant is a large-scale cooperation project in the nuclear energy field between China and Russia, located in Huludao City, Liaoning Province. In 2019, a series of contracts were signed, including the general contract for the construction of VVER-1200 reactors for Units 3 and 4 of the Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant, as well as a nuclear fuel supply contract. Under the contract, Rosatom's engineering division is responsible for the design of the nuclear island, supplying key nuclear island equipment for both units, and providing installation supervision and commissioning guidance services for the supplied equipment. The units are scheduled to commence commercial operation in 2027-2028.
