en.Wedoany.com Reported - KB Financial Group (KB금융그룹) has provided a total of 30 million won in prize money for the "2026 Humanoid Robot Challenge" (2026 휴머노이드 챌린지), recently held at the Songdo Convensia in Incheon. The event, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (산업통상자원부) and jointly organized by the Korea Robot Industry Promotion Institute (한국로봇산업진흥원) and the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement (한국로봇융합연구원), marks South Korea's first empirical competition focused on humanoid robot technology.
This competition was not merely a technical showcase but centered on verifying the practical application capabilities of humanoid robots in actual manufacturing settings. Twelve teams from major universities and research institutions nationwide competed in environments simulating real-world processes such as parts sorting and handling, sequential assembly, and wheel hub installation, testing the autonomous control and precision task execution of humanoid robots.

After the competition, the Seoul National University ROBI Team (서울대학교 ROBI팀) won the grand prize. In his acceptance speech, ROBI team leader Kim Jun-oh (김준오) expressed his commitment to research, aiming for the results to drive a leap forward in South Korea's robot industry on the ground.
With this sponsorship as a starting point, KB Financial Group plans to continue supporting the ecosystem in cutting-edge technology fields such as artificial intelligence and robotics.
