en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Binhe West Road rapid transit tunnel project in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone has recently been fully connected, with a traffic tunnel group consisting of 11 tunnels officially put into operation. This project is the largest and highest-standard traffic tunnel group in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, with a total tunnel mileage of 14.64 kilometers, all designed to bidirectional six-lane traffic standards. As a result, the north-south travel time within the zone has been reduced from 45 minutes to 25 minutes, significantly improving regional commuting efficiency.

The Binhe West Road rapid transit project is divided into two major construction sections: surface roads and the tunnel group. The surface road spans 25.16 kilometers, with a road red line width of 79 meters, a design speed of 60 km/h, and a high-standard layout of bidirectional ten lanes. A total of 11 tunnels have been built as supporting facilities, all with bidirectional six-lane traffic standards, serving as the core traffic corridor for north-south travel within the zone. Among them, the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone project department participated in construction tasks such as the main structure, drainage, and fire pump room structures for tunnels S1 to S8.

The Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, located in the southeastern part of Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, is China's first national-level airport economy zone, with a planned area of 415 square kilometers. It serves as a comprehensive transportation hub integrating aviation, high-speed rail, subway, intercity rail, and highways. The Binhe West Road rapid transit project is a key component of the "six horizontal and six vertical" skeleton road network in the region. Since construction began, the project team has faced multiple challenges, including tight schedules, complex multi-party coordination, periodic shortages of building materials, and intricate cross-operation workflows. The team has consistently adhered to the three core bottom lines of quality, safety, and progress, upholding the construction philosophy of "people's livelihood first, quality foremost." They have coordinated human resources, machinery, and material supplies, continuously optimized construction organization plans, and implemented refined control over the entire process, including tunnel excavation, main structure pouring, and electromechanical auxiliary installation.

During the project construction period, the team received written commendations from owner units such as the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone Construction Bureau and Huifa Infrastructure Construction Co., Ltd. The documents noted that the project team fully demonstrated the responsibility of central enterprises, facing difficulties head-on with meticulous control, and completed the construction tasks of 11 tunnels with high quality and efficiency, showcasing a tenacious work ethic and professional project execution capability.

With the full connection of the tunnel group, the north-south main traffic axis of the zone has been completely opened. Previously, a round trip across the zone took 45 minutes, but now the travel time has been reduced to 25 minutes, effectively addressing pain points such as congestion at level crossings, mixed traffic of people and vehicles, and long waits at traffic lights. In the next step, the project department will steadily advance the finishing work of the tunnel project, continuously refine supporting facilities, and fully unleash the multiple benefits of the project in terms of transportation, industry, and people's livelihoods.
