en.Wedoany.com Reported - Merseytravel, the public sector transport executive, has launched a procurement process to recruit a contractor for eight ventilation stations in the Liverpool Kingsway Tunnel and Queensway Tunnel areas, covering early contractor involvement (ECI), detailed design, and repair works.

The contract is valued at £15 million (excluding VAT), with a total of £18 million including tax. The scope of work targets the repairs identified in the structural condition survey reports of these eight ventilation stations, encompassing building, construction, engineering, and inspection services.

The contract is expected to run from 14 December 2026 to 14 August 2028, with two optional six-month extension periods that could extend the end date to 20 August 2029.

The project will be delivered in two phases. Phase one includes ECI and detailed design development, while phase two covers the execution of repair works. According to the procurement notice, whether the construction phase proceeds depends on Merseytravel accepting the construction costs proposed during the ECI phase and the contractor agreeing to complete the works within the project timeline specified in the tender documents.

Interested suppliers must submit their participation applications by 25 August. Merseytravel plans to invite up to five suppliers to tender after evaluating pre-qualification questionnaire (PSQ) responses. Successful bidders will receive tender invitations on 9 September and must attend a site visit during the week commencing 16 September, with specific dates to be confirmed.

The evaluation criteria are weighted at 60% for quality, 30% for price, and 10% for social value.
