en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) announced on the 4th that it will invest 10 million reais to improve connectivity infrastructure in the inland regions of Minas Gerais. Through a partnership with Ultrafiber Informática e Telecomunicações Ltda., based in the city of Coronel Fabriciano (Doce River Valley), the investment aims to promote the development of new connectivity technologies in the areas where Ultrafiber operates.

The funds disbursed by BNDES to Ultrafiber come from the Telecommunications Services Universalization Fund (Fust), which focuses on increasing the supply of connectivity services in Brazil's inland regions. The partnership is expected to benefit at least 15 cities, all within the company's operational scope, with 54 schools (serving a total of 28,466 students) as priority targets. Key activities include: improving and expanding the fiber optic network (including high-capacity segments), building internal infrastructure in selected schools, and other enhancements. Many of the beneficiary locations are in rural areas of Minas Gerais.

Founded in 2013, Ultrafiber is a medium-sized enterprise specializing in serving the Doce River Valley, particularly the Steel Valley region, covering cities such as Coronel Fabriciano, Ipatinga, and Timóteo. The area has approximately 550,000 residents, of whom about 108,000 live in the city where Ultrafiber is headquartered. The company provides fiber optic broadband internet, pay TV, streaming services, and other telecommunications add-ons. BNDES's investment may yield results beyond the expected network coverage expansion, as such funding is likely to enhance the company's service levels.
