en.Wedoany.com Reported - The code and interface of OpenAI's agent development tool Codex have revealed some details of the upcoming GPT-5.6. Users saw a pop-up window titled "Introducing GPT-5.6 Sol," which mentioned Terra and Luna—two simpler models in the GPT-5.6 series—along with a new toggle allowing manual balancing between speed and quality.

The name "Sol Ultra" separately emerged in the code, appearing to be an independent, more powerful mode of the flagship model. Codex lead Tibo briefly confirmed in a post on X platform: "Ultra will be in codex." The post garnered over one million views within hours.
According to leaked information cited by BigGo Finance, OpenAI has set a strict internal deadline: the release window for GPT-5.6 targets next Tuesday (July 7), with a possible delay to July 9. Insider Pankaj Kumar provided similar figures: OpenAI aims for a July 7 launch, with July 8-9 as backup options in case of delays. The model was released on June 26, but its broad rollout was postponed for additional review by the U.S. government.
Previous GPT models traditionally offered a Pro version with higher capabilities, but it was only available on the ChatGPT web version and app. Whether the Ultra mode in Codex will replace the Pro version or bring other changes will be revealed in the coming days.
