en.Wedoany.com Reported - Univity has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesian state-owned satellite operator Telkomsat to jointly explore cooperation opportunities in satellite connectivity.

The MoU includes evaluating very low Earth orbit (VLEO) architectures and future direct-to-device services. The two parties plan to explore satellite connectivity solutions for enterprise and mobile applications, as well as for uncovered and underserved areas.
Univity raised €27 million earlier this year and plans to build a satellite constellation in VLEO, serving as a neutral space infrastructure for telecom operators to access satellite connectivity. The partnership with Telkomsat will explore hosting ground infrastructure in Indonesia, as well as a hybrid multi-orbit architecture combining Telkomsat's geostationary orbit (GEO) satellite network with Univity's network.
Anggoro K. Widiawan, Head of Development at Telkomsat, stated that satellite connectivity continues to play a vital role in supporting Indonesia's digital ecosystem, particularly in remote and geographically dispersed areas. Through this MoU, both parties look forward to exploring how emerging satellite architectures and future non-terrestrial network capabilities can meet the country's evolving connectivity needs.
