en.Wedoany.com Reported - King Copper Discovery Corp., through its subsidiary Aurora Copper Peru SAC, has obtained approval for the Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) for the Colquemayo project in the Coalaque district, General Sánchez Cerro province, Moquegua region, Peru, to initiate a drilling program.

Company CEO Jonathan Richards stated that this progress is crucial for launching the drilling program, enabling the company to validate the geological model supporting its strategy. Previous drilling activities have shown extensive copper mineralization within a large hydrothermal system, with drill hole COQ10-36 recording a 237-meter intercept grading 2.4% copper.

The permit authorizes up to 36,010 meters of diamond drilling across 40 platforms over 40 months, allowing for up to 59 drill holes. The company has fully secured funding for the development of the drilling program.

The company has reviewed over 20,000 meters of historical core and conducted a comprehensive geological reinterpretation. These recent technical efforts have optimized the understanding of the project and identified high-priority targets, with planned drilling depths exceeding those previously achieved.

Chico Azevedo, Vice President of Commercial Development, noted that previous drilling has demonstrated the high-grade potential of Colquemayo, yielding significant intercepts such as 15.15 meters grading 27% copper. The geological model is based on analogies with other Andean epithermal and porphyry systems, with Argentina's Filo del Sol serving as a key reference.

The Colquemayo project is located in one of the world's most prolific copper-producing regions, hosting major operating projects such as Cerro Verde, Quellaveco, Cuajone, and Toquepala. Historical exploration in the area has identified extensive, high-grade enargite mineralization hosted in multiple breccia zones, situated beneath a cap rock approximately 12 kilometers long and 3 to 4 kilometers wide.

Since acquiring the project, King Copper has completed a comprehensive review of historical geological, geochemical, and drilling data, including detailed core logging, geological reinterpretation, and three-dimensional geological modeling.
