Lou Jianfeng, born in June 1968 in Dongyang, Zhejiang, holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Zhejiang University, an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Lou Jianfeng worked at France's Atofina Chemical Company (now Arkema) from 1998 to 2003; from 2005 to 2015, he held positions including Senior Manager, General Manager, and Vice President at BASF; from 2015 to 2019, he served as Senior Vice President of BASF's Global Battery Materials Business Unit; from 2019 to 2021, he was President of BASF's Global Advanced Materials and Systems Research and a member of the Global Executive Committee; from 2022 to May 2026, he served as Chairman and President of BASF Greater China and a member of the Global Executive Committee.
Previously, on May 26, BASF issued a notice of senior management changes, stating that Lou Jianfeng had resigned, and Jeffrey Lin would assume the role of Chairman and President of BASF Greater China effective July 1, 2026.
