Wedoany.com Report-May 1, Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd (HPL), a leading company in India’s petrochemical sector, has signed an agreement with Lummus Technology to increase the phenol production capacity at its upcoming Phenol and Acetone Plant in Haldia, West Bengal. The deal, formalized by Navanit Narayan, Whole-time Director & CEO of HPL, and Dr. Romain Lemoine, Chief Business Officer of Polymers and Petrochemicals at Lummus Technology, will boost the plant’s phenol output from 300 KTPA to 345 KTPA.

Haldia Petrochemicals has signed a license amendment with Lummus Technology to expand its phenol production capacity for the upcoming Phenol and Acetone Plant in Haldia, West Bengal.

This expansion supports HPL’s strategy to enhance its contribution to India’s chemical industry. With an investment exceeding INR 5,000 crore in Haldia, HPL is expanding production of phenol, cumene, and acetone to meet growing domestic needs and support related industries. The facility will also feature India’s first on-purpose propylene plant using olefins conversion technology provided by Lummus. The project is slated for completion by the first quarter of 2026.
