en.Wedoany.com Reported - US business jet manufacturer Gulfstream Aerospace announced that its G800 business jet flew nonstop from Melbourne Airport (MEL) in Australia to Moline Quad Cities Airport (MLI) in Illinois, USA, covering a distance of 8,303 nautical miles (15,377 kilometers) in 16 hours and 56 minutes, setting the farthest and fastest flight record in the history of the business jet market. This latest achievement adds leverage to Gulfstream's direct competition with Bombardier and Dassault.

On June 28, Gulfstream deployed the G800 on the Melbourne to Moline route to test its ultra-long-range flight capabilities. During the journey, the aircraft maintained an average cruise speed of approximately Mach 0.85, near the limit of its long-range cruise setting. This distance exceeded the aircraft's advertised long-range cruise figure of 8,200 nautical miles (15,186 kilometers), highlighting that the G800 can fly farther than its official range chart under typical conditions. Gulfstream President Mark Burns stated that with every new aircraft, Gulfstream continues to push performance boundaries for customers, achieving the 800th city-pair speed record and completing the farthest and fastest flight in industry history, showcasing the strength of the next-generation fleet and the advanced capabilities of the G800.

During the flight, occupants enjoyed a low cabin altitude of approximately 2,840 feet (866 meters) at a cruising altitude of 41,000 feet (12,497 meters). Fresh air was replenished every two to three minutes via a plasma ionization air purification system. The cabin interior can be configured with four different living area layouts, or three layouts plus a crew compartment. Designed for long-range missions, the G800 can connect Melbourne and Moline nonstop over a distance exceeding its official range, demonstrating its competitive advantage. Additionally, the G800 has an expected range of 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 kilometers) when flying at Mach 0.90, and 8,000 nautical miles (12,816 kilometers) at Mach 0.87. The aircraft's maximum operating speed is Mach 0.935.

In June, Gulfstream also achieved its 800th city-pair speed record, with the G800 flying in record time between Reykjavik Keflavik International Airport (KEF) in Iceland's capital and Savannah Hilton Head International Airport (SAV). The aircraft connected the two cities at an average cruise speed of Mach 0.91, with a flight time of 5 hours and 52 minutes over a distance of 2,973 nautical miles (5,505 kilometers). This marked Gulfstream's 800th city-pair speed record. Gulfstream has achieved a total of 815 speed records across its business jet series, 15 of which have been set by the G800 since it entered service in August 2025. Gulfstream's latest achievements include the fastest flight from Iceland to Georgia and the farthest and fastest flight from Australia to Illinois, underscoring the aircraft's performance and solidifying its position as a long-range leader in the business jet market.
