en.Wedoany.com Reported - LG Energy Solution returned to profitability in the second quarter, posting an operating profit of 113.3 billion won after three consecutive quarters of losses. Although demand for electric vehicles remains sluggish, growth in energy storage system demand and strong cylindrical battery sales supported earnings.

According to preliminary results released by the company on July 7, second-quarter revenue was 7.5602 trillion won, with an operating profit of 113.3 billion won. Compared to the same period in 2025, revenue grew by 24.8%, but operating profit fell by 77%; quarter-over-quarter, revenue increased by 15.3%, and the company returned to profitability. This operating profit was slightly below market expectations of around 180 billion won.

In this quarter, benefits from the Advanced Manufacturing Production Credit (AMPC) under the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) totaled 241 billion won. Excluding this tax credit, revenue was 7.3193 trillion won, and the company would have recorded an operating loss of 127.7 billion won.

In terms of outlook, sales of energy storage systems (ESS), particularly in North America, continue to perform strongly. Meanwhile, electric vehicle sales at LG Energy Solution's largest customer, Tesla, remain robust. According to data from market research firm SNE Research, as of May this year, Tesla sold a cumulative 601,000 electric vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 9.9%, with its global market share rising from 7.3% to 7.7%.

A key goal for the company this year is to restore annual revenue to over 30 trillion won. On a basis excluding AMPC benefits, quarterly revenue exceeded 7 trillion won for the first time since the fourth quarter of 2023, indicating an improvement in business fundamentals. If annual revenue exceeds 30 trillion won, it would be the first time in three years since 2023.
