en.Wedoany.com Reported - The City Council of Alhama de Murcia (Ayuntamiento de Alhama de Murcia) has begun installing photovoltaic self-consumption systems in 14 municipal buildings, with a total of 203 solar panels, an annual generation capacity of nearly 196,800 kWh, and an investment exceeding €354,000, covering the city's educational and sports facilities.

Sports facilities are part of the project series. Technicians have installed self-consumption systems at the Guadalentín Sports Complex (Complejo Deportivo Guadalentín), the El Praíco Multipurpose Sports Hall (Polideportivo El Praíco), and the indoor heated swimming pool (Piscina Cubierta Climatizada), with a total project cost of €199,108.55, of which €117,705 was funded by the European Union. Technical estimates indicate an average energy savings rate of approximately 28%.

At the indoor heated swimming pool, a dedicated water heating system was installed, consisting of 81 solar thermal collectors spread over an area of more than 200 square meters. The system is installed coplanarly, fixed to an inclined structure, and secured to the roof via metal brackets, with the collectors oriented due south. The installed thermal power ensures an annual output of approximately 114,900 kWh. The thermal retrofit project cost €155,110.54, receiving €61,403.02 in EU subsidies. According to technical calculations, the retrofit will reduce natural gas consumption by over 12,000 cubic meters per year, equivalent to a nearly 32% reduction in the pool's energy consumption.

These projects are funded by the European Union's Next Generation EU fund, channeled through the Spanish government's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia), supported by incentive programs from the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), and managed by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE).
