en.Wedoany.com Reported - Stéphane Layani, President of the Marché international de Rungis (Rungis International Market), and Maurice Georges, Chairman of the Executive Board of Dunkerque-Port (Port of Dunkirk), signed a cooperation agreement on July 8, 2026, aimed at strengthening synergies between France's leading agri-food port and the world's largest fresh produce market. A joint statement indicated that the goal is to sustainably secure the supply of the Rungis market, reduce dependence on foreign ports, and create more value within France.

This cooperation will be concretely implemented through the creation of the Rungis-Dunkerque agri-logistics platform (plateforme agrologistique Rungis-Dunkerque), focusing on food logistics, processing, and value-added activities. This hub will be located in the Dunkerque Logistique Internationale (DLI) zone, which offers over 350,000 square meters of space for developing logistics and agri-food activities.
Representatives of the Grand Port Maritime de Dunkerque (Port of Dunkirk) and Semmaris (the development company of Rungis International Market) also plan to "promote and create new direct maritime shipping routes between the Grand Port Maritime de Dunkerque and other major global hubs, particularly those supported by Semmaris International." Additionally, both parties are studying the development of a direct rail line connecting the key northern port with the large market in the Val-de-Marne department.
