en.Wedoany.com Reported - The 2026 Korea Construction & Safety Expo will be held from October 14 to 16 at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1 in Ilsan. In collaboration with the Korea Underground Safety Association, a special Underground Safety Pavilion will be established, highlighting AI and ICT-based solutions for ground subsidence prevention and real-time monitoring. This initiative aims to shift underground safety management from a "post-incident repair" model to an "AI-based prevention system."

With the recent rise in urban ground subsidence incidents and accidents around excavation sites, the Korean government has revised the Enforcement Decree of the Underground Safety Act. The Korea Authority of Land & Infrastructure Safety is conducting nationwide geological surveys, while local governments such as Seoul are introducing new AI and ICT-based technologies for large-scale excavation projects. The industry's technological paradigm is rapidly shifting toward real-time monitoring systems. Co-hosted by KINTEX and MyCenter, this year's expo is themed "AX (AI Transformation) and Super Safety Platform for Industry & Construction." Building on the success of last year's Underground Safety Pavilion, the 2026 edition plans to expand to 50 booths from 25 companies, covering the entire engineering process from underground facility design and geological surveys to measurement and real-time analysis solutions.

According to the expo secretariat, member companies of the Korea Underground Safety Association will receive a corporate discount of 300,000 KRW, in addition to a separate 300,000 KRW support from the association, totaling 600,000 KRW in savings per booth. They will also have priority access to business support, including dedicated page promotions in the Underground Safety Pavilion layout and promotional materials.

The Underground Safety Pavilion will showcase technologies across six major areas: underground facility design, underground facility construction, underground facility operation and maintenance, ground subsidence accident response and restoration, underground safety inspection, and other underground safety technologies. During the expo, the Korea Underground Safety Association will also host a "New Technology Presentation by Certified Excellent Technology Companies" and an "Underground Safety Policy Seminar," sharing information on recent legal revisions and the latest trends in academia and industry.

The 2026 Korea Construction & Safety Expo is officially sponsored by over 50 construction and safety-related government ministries, affiliated agencies, associations, and organizations, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and Gyeonggi Province. Personnel from major public procurement agencies such as the Korea Authority of Land & Infrastructure Safety, LH, and the Korea Expressway Corporation, as well as civil servants responsible for roads, construction, and safety from basic and metropolitan local governments, will attend for market research and product procurement. The expo also features business programs designed to facilitate actual transactions, including a "Domestic Buyer Invitation Purchasing Meeting" and a "Buyer Invitation Guided Tour."

A representative from the KINTEX expo secretariat stated that with the government strengthening its underground safety prevention system, this year's Underground Safety Pavilion has drawn significant attention from practitioners in local governments and construction companies. The pavilion will provide guidelines for managing underground risks, from small-scale sites to large-scale projects, and offer participating companies opportunities to simultaneously explore both public and private markets.
