£29 Million Student Accommodation Project in Manchester Reaches Topping-Out Stage

Representatives from the Alumno team, main contractor GMI Construction Group, and other project stakeholders celebrated this key milestone together. Located on Moss Lane East, the project is scheduled for completion in the 2027 academic year, offering modern accommodation adjacent to the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University. Designed by Stallan Brand Architects, the project comprises cluster bedrooms and studio apartments, providing a total of 261 student beds.

Overlooking Whitworth Park, the overall scheme combines a new nine-storey building with the renovation of a protected Georgian villa, blending modern architecture with local heritage preservation. The building's exterior features high-quality brick and metal cladding. Students will have access to dedicated study spaces, social lounges, a cinema room, fitness facilities, and wellness spaces.

David Campbell, Managing Director of Alumno, stated that the topping-out stage is a significant milestone, reflecting the collaboration and dedication of the on-site team. Through its design, the project will deliver much-needed high-quality student accommodation in Manchester, with some rooms offered at affordable rents.
