en.Wedoany.com Reported - Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has signed a 15-year agreement with GAIL (India) Limited to set up an LNG refueling station at CONCOR's inland container depot in Khodiyar, Ahmedabad, aiming to support the heavy logistics industry in adopting cleaner fuels and expanding LNG refueling infrastructure coverage. GAIL will operate the station and invest in retail LNG refueling infrastructure, while CONCOR will provide approximately 3,000 square meters of land and necessary utility connections at its Ahmedabad terminal.
This project is part of India's broader efforts to reduce freight emissions and encourage a shift toward cleaner commercial vehicle fuels. CONCOR has committed to deploying a dedicated fleet of 15 LNG-powered commercial vehicles from the first year of the contract to support project viability. The facility is planned to operate 24/7, serving both CONCOR's logistics fleet and commercial vehicles from the open market, making it a dual-purpose infrastructure asset that can support the wider adoption of LNG in the transport and logistics ecosystem.
This collaboration reflects growing interest in alternative fuels within India's logistics network, particularly at major freight hubs like Ahmedabad. If the model proves successful, it could encourage more partnerships between public sector logistics operators and energy companies, driving the development of cleaner fuel infrastructure nationwide.
