Viridian launches Walker Ridge reimaging extension in US Gulf of Mexico, delivery in early 2027

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Viridien has recently commenced a reimaging extension project in the Walker Ridge area of the US Gulf of Mexico. Building on the success of the previous Walker Ridge reimaging project and supported by industry partners, fast-track results are now available.

Viridien commences Walker Ridge reimaging extension in US Gulf

This extension covers 4,406 square kilometers, encompassing 189 new Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) blocks within the high-potential Walker Ridge area; an additional 46.5 blocks overlap with the original Walker Ridge reimaging project, with an overlapping area of 1,085 square kilometers. The entire project involves a total of 235.5 blocks, covering 5,491 square kilometers, and will provide a high-quality exploration dataset for this block cluster, with significant infrastructure-led exploration (ILX) potential.

The project utilizes Viridien's seismic imaging expertise and time-lag full waveform inversion (TLFWI) technology to enhance subsurface understanding and add deeper geological information in this complex deepwater environment. The data volume produced from the extended area will be seamlessly merged with the original Walker Ridge reimaging data, with final results expected to be delivered in early 2027.

Dechun Lin, Head of Earth Data at Viridien, stated that the Walker Ridge reimaging extension project directly builds on the proven success of the previous Walker Ridge multi-client survey, which has generated strong commercial interest. Leveraging the latest time-lag FWI technology, this project provides customers with a powerful exploration tool targeting a broad, prospective area with strong ILX potential.
