en.Wedoany.com Reported - Peru's Minister of Energy and Mines, Waldir Ayasta, held a meeting with representatives from multiple transmission companies to advance a joint agenda addressing key challenges in the transmission subsector. The meeting identified various issues affecting the development of transmission infrastructure and discussed needs such as enhancing system reliability and facilitating the integration of new power plants.

Minister Ayasta stated that the goal is to ensure increasingly efficient electricity supply for all users, and therefore the ministry is promoting dialogue channels to work collaboratively, build consensus-based solutions, and accelerate the development of national electricity infrastructure. The head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) noted that the ministry's commitment is to improve the execution of transmission projects through enhanced coordination, prioritizing actions to shorten timelines related to permits, easements, and other procedures required for investments.
Accompanied by Deputy Minister of Electricity Luis Santillán, the minister reported that his administration is coordinating the approval of regulatory documents aimed at accelerating the execution of transmission projects and optimizing related processes, and is signing additional agreements to expedite the implementation of national priority investments. Company representatives attending the meeting included those from Consorcio Transmantaro S.A., Interconexión eléctrica ISA Perú S.A., Red de energía del Perú S.A., Red eléctrica del Sur S.A., Transmisora eléctrica del Sur 2 S.A.C., among others.
Minem will promote the development of a roadmap containing short-term actions to prioritize initiatives aimed at improving planning, strengthening institutional coordination, facilitating new investments, and ensuring the timely expansion of the transmission system. The minister concluded that Peru has significant potential to become a regional energy benchmark, requiring collaborative efforts to strengthen electricity infrastructure to support the mining and hydrocarbons sectors and drive the transition toward a cleaner energy matrix.
