China's Ruien New Energy Plans €100.5 Million Battery Cell Plant in Serbia
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 31, the Serbian government, the Inđija city government, and Jiangsu Ruien New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. officially signed a framework agreement. Ruien New Energy plans to build a high-performance battery cell manufacturing plant in Inđija, northern Serbia, with an investment of €100.5 million. The project is slated for the Inđija High-Tech Park and will become Ruien New Energy's first overseas manufacturing facility.

The framework agreement was signed by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović, Inđija city government head Marko Gašić, and Ruien New Energy Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Xu Fenglan, with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in attendance. The planned plant will produce high-performance battery products primarily for applications such as drones, humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles, advanced power tools, and household appliances.
Inđija city government head Marko Gašić stated after the signing that the project plans to use approximately 35 hectares of land, is expected to create around 250 new jobs, and the new plant is scheduled to be completed within about one year. The Serbian side also stated that it will support project implementation in areas such as infrastructure development and investment assistance.
A preliminary implementation timeline had been announced prior to the official signing of the framework agreement. When presenting the investment on August 20, Vučić stated that the framework agreement was planned to be signed by the end of August, with plant construction scheduled to begin in late October. Following the completion of the framework agreement signing by the three parties on August 31, the next announced construction milestone remains the start of plant construction in late October.
Ruien New Energy Chairman Chen Xuan stated that Serbia was identified as the company's overseas manufacturing base after nearly three years of site selection, during which the company inspected candidate locations in more than ten countries across Asia, Europe, and Africa. With the Inđija plant confirmed, Ruien New Energy's manufacturing system will expand from its domestic bases in China to Europe.
Ruien New Energy's partner companies may also enter Inđija in subsequent phases of the project. Marko Gašić indicated that companies with cooperative relationships with Ruien New Energy also have plans to establish a presence locally, though the relevant company names, investment scale, and implementation timeline have not yet been disclosed.
