Bouygues Telecom announces partnership to enhance fraud protection for banks, websites, and social networks

With the rise in identity theft, fake accounts, and banking fraud, enterprises are seeking more effective solutions to protect their online services. Against this backdrop, Bouygues Telecom has joined the Aduna platform. This platform allows enterprises to leverage mobile network capabilities through standardized interfaces (APIs) without the need for individual integration with each operator, aiming to simplify the deployment of security solutions in France and internationally.

After developing APIs based on the GSMA CAMARA standard, enterprises can query the mobile network to verify user-related technical information while protecting user privacy. Bouygues Telecom does not transmit personal data, only returning "yes/no" or "true/false" type responses based on network information. Such verification helps detect certain attempts before fraud occurs.

The initial services primarily target industries vulnerable to fraud, such as banks and financial institutions, insurance companies, credit agencies, online commerce platforms, and social networks. Bouygues Telecom stated that it has supported over 40 French enterprises in these sectors, with its APIs recording more than 5 million calls in 2025.

The operator currently offers three main security APIs. The first is "Know Your Customer Match," which facilitates identity verification when creating accounts or registering for services. The second is "SIM Swap Check," which detects whether a SIM card has been recently replaced, particularly useful during bank transfers, credit applications, or large purchases, as fraudsters sometimes intercept SMS verification codes by swapping SIM cards. The third is "Number Verification," which automatically confirms that a mobile number belongs to its user without requiring an SMS verification code.

Bouygues Telecom also announced a significant evolution planned for implementation by the end of the year. The new version of "Number Verification" will gradually replace traditional SMS verification codes (OTP). Authentication will be conducted directly via the mobile network in the background, without user intervention. For enterprises, this evolution promises higher security and a smoother user experience, while reducing risks associated with SMS interception and fraudulent techniques.
