en.Wedoany.com Reported - Sage Potash has officially commenced drilling operations at its flagship Sage Plain potash project in Utah, USA. The drilling began on July 8, and the company expects to reach the 18th cycle potash layer at a depth of approximately 2,100 meters in about 20 days.

According to previously disclosed plans, this drilling will advance from the initial drill site currently used for resource calculation toward the northeast-north direction, drilling an exploration well of 1.275 kilometers. Continuous core sampling will be conducted during the operation, with samples sent to the SRC laboratory in Saskatoon for laboratory analysis to determine potash grade and thickness.

The analysis results will lay the foundation for upgrading resource estimates, facilitating the project's progression into the engineering design and development phase. Additionally, the core will undergo geomechanical testing to support mine design, along with hydrogeological testing to assess potential water supply capacity.

Sage Potash CEO Pat Varas stated that the initiation of drilling is the result of months of comprehensive planning and execution by the project team and multiple contractors and service providers. It marks a critical step in the ongoing development of the Sage Plain potash project, and the company will continue to closely monitor drilling progress.

The deposits within the Paradox Basin contain multiple potash-bearing layers, with the upper and lower sections of the 18th cycle, which hold the greatest exploration potential, being the primary targets of this drilling campaign. Sage Potash is focused on establishing domestic potash production capacity at its wholly owned Sage Plain project in the Paradox Basin, Utah.
