en.Wedoany.com Reported - Workonline Communications has deployed a new Point of Presence (POP) at the PAIX data center in Nairobi, Kenya, to strengthen its East African network. This is part of the company's ongoing investment in the region, with the new POP providing customers with greater route diversity, higher redundancy, and enhanced regional network resilience.

This POP is Workonline's fourth node in Kenya and its third in Nairobi, marking the latest step in the company's continued efforts to build resilient, high-performance connectivity in East Africa. Workonline previously established its first West African POP in Ghana in 2020, expanding its West African footprint through a partnership with PAIX. Extending this collaboration to East Africa is a continuation of that earlier expansion.
Hlumelo Fungile, Chief Commercial Officer at PAIX Data Centres, stated that Workonline is one of Africa's leading IP transit providers, and its addition to the PAIX ecosystem will bring numerous content delivery networks and small to medium-sized ISPs. Workonline's decision to open a third POP in Nairobi validates the ecosystem appeal that PAIX is building locally. Fungile noted that PAIX NBO1 has become a convergence point for carriers, ISPs, content delivery networks, and an increasing number of financial services institutions, making it one of the fastest-growing connectivity ecosystems on the East African coast. Workonline's arrival will further drive the development of this ecosystem, helping to position Nairobi and Kenya as the region's premier interconnection hub.
Benjamin Deveaux, Head of Business Development at Workonline Communications Group, pointed out that the new POP is part of the overall network strategy aimed at providing customers with more redundancy and resilience to support their business growth in East Africa. This deployment helps Workonline serve a broader range of ISPs, carriers, and digital service providers, while offering existing customers more regional interconnection options.
Workonline plans to offer a full suite of services at its core POPs, including IP transit, Ethernet private line, and Ethernet virtual private line services, giving customers flexibility in connecting, expanding, and building resilience into their own networks. Deveaux added that redundancy is both a technical and commercial advantage, as network path resilience and route diversity improve customer experience uptime and confidence.
