en.Wedoany.com Reported - China Southern Power Grid and China Mobile Communications Group recently held talks, focusing on computing-electricity synergy, "six networks" integration, collaborative construction of communication and power networks, data elements, and artificial intelligence applications, aiming to further promote the integrated development of energy and power infrastructure with information and communication networks.
The talks were held on July 10. The two sides proposed to strengthen strategic planning alignment based on the construction needs of new power systems, new power grids, communication networks, and computing power networks, and to collaborate on communication, computing power, intelligent services, and power system operational capabilities. Related cooperation directions also include cutting-edge technology research, market expansion for emerging industries, emergency service system construction, and cultivation of the computing power industry ecosystem.
Computing-electricity synergy will become one of the key focuses of subsequent cooperation. China Southern Power Grid is responsible for the investment, construction, and operation of power grids in five provinces and regions—Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hainan—as well as Hong Kong and Macao, while China Mobile possesses communication networks, computing power infrastructure, and intelligent service capabilities. The two sides plan to explore coordination mechanisms between computing power resources and electricity supply, enhancing the synergy of data centers, computing power nodes, and related information infrastructure in planning, construction, energy security, and operational scheduling.
In terms of communication and power network integration, the two sides have previously cooperated in areas such as next-generation information communication, computing power network coordination, and major technological research. The next phase will continue to advance network resource sharing, data collaboration, and the application of AI technology in power grid operations and communication assurance, while building an emergency service coordination system for unexpected events.
Qian Zhaoyang, Chairman of China Southern Power Grid, expressed hope that the two sides will expand cooperation during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period around "six networks" coordination, industry-innovation integration, livelihood security, and the token economy. Chen Yangfan, General Manager of China Mobile, stated that the two sides will further strengthen cooperation in strategic planning, computing-electricity synergy, data elements, and AI applications, exploring new models for the integrated development of information communication and energy power.
Currently, the two sides have not yet announced specific cooperation agreements, project lists, investment scales, or construction timelines. The talks primarily clarified the direction of subsequent collaboration, and related network construction, computing power node layout, and technology projects are subject to information released by both parties in the future.
