en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 13, 2026, the Argentine government awarded 700 megawatts of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in its latest tender, AlmaSADI, with projects to be distributed across the country.

Launched earlier this year, the tender sought 4-hour duration battery energy storage system capacity nationwide, ultimately receiving 235 bids totaling 8.3 gigawatts. Interest in battery energy storage systems continues to surge in the Argentine market, following a previous tender (which awarded 713 megawatts of BESS last year) that attracted 1.3 gigawatts in applications, though that tender was focused solely on the Buenos Aires region.

Wholesale market operator CAMMESA (Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico Sociedad Anónima) selected 20 projects in the AlmaSADI tender. Argentine renewable energy developer Genneia secured the largest capacity, with 7 projects totaling 421 megawatts, followed by peer developer DQD Energy, with 8 projects totaling 149.5 megawatts.

Other companies awarded capacity in the AlmaSADI tender include renewable energy developer 360 Energy Solar (3 projects totaling 68 megawatts) and Intermepro (1 project totaling 12 megawatts), as well as Argentine aluminum producer Aluar, which has a 50-megawatt project in the northern Corrientes region.

The average price for awarded projects was $8,427 per megawatt per month. The lowest price was $7,632 for Genneia's 100-megawatt Bragado I-II project in Buenos Aires Province, while the highest was $9,705 for DQD Energy's 10-megawatt project in the NEA Chaco-Formosa region.

Prices in the AlmaSADI tender ultimately came in significantly lower than the previous tender, where prices fluctuated between $10,000 and $12,000 per megawatt per month last year.

By regional distribution, Buenos Aires Province secured the largest capacity at 185 megawatts, followed by the northeastern region comprising Chaco and Formosa provinces, with a capacity of 161.5 megawatts.
