en.Wedoany.com Reported - Qatar's MEEZA recently completed a 4MW data center expansion and delivered the new facility to a global hyperscale cloud service provider. A certificate of serviceability has been signed for the project, with construction completed nine months ahead of the contractual schedule. The additional capacity will be used to support cloud computing, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and other critical digital services, further expanding Qatar's local data processing and cloud service hosting capabilities.

This expansion does not involve building a new standalone data center but rather adds 4MW of usable capacity within MEEZA's existing data center infrastructure. The new facility has been integrated into the company's operational data center network and constructed to meet requirements for high availability, scalability, operational resilience, and energy efficiency. MEEZA currently operates five M-VAULT data centers in Qatar. With the new facility in service, it can deploy higher-density computing and storage systems for regional and international clients.

The project covered data center design, construction, mechanical and electrical system installation, commissioning, and delivery. During construction, over 871,000 work hours were completed without any lost-time incidents, medical treatment cases, or environmental incidents. MEEZA did not disclose the number of new cabinets, power density per cabinet, cooling system type, or specific construction location. Therefore, the confirmed core construction scale is 4MW, and the number of servers or AI accelerators cannot be inferred from this.

The project was initially launched for expansion in 2025 and subsequently included in a long-term service agreement exceeding 10 years, with a total contract value of over 3.5 billion Qatari riyals, approximately USD 96 million. With the facility becoming operational ahead of schedule, the client can accelerate equipment deployment for cloud platforms and digital services, while MEEZA secures demand for the new data center capacity through a long-term hosting agreement.

The additional 4MW capacity is primarily targeted at the growing demands of cloud services, AI platforms, and high-performance computing workloads. Such operations typically require more stable power supply, continuous cooling, high-speed network connectivity, and redundant operating systems. This delivery marks the project's transition from the civil construction and equipment installation phase to the client's equipment deployment and service hosting phase, though the client's name and specific services launched have not yet been disclosed.

Qatar's MEEZA previously signed a 6MW data center capacity usage agreement with another global cloud service provider. Combined with the 4MW facility now delivered, the company is increasing its hyperscale cloud computing service hosting capacity through phased expansions. Currently, publicly available information does not indicate the construction of a sixth data center, with the focus remaining on capacity supplementation and infrastructure upgrades to the existing data center ecosystem.
