This measure will take effect on July 25, 2026 for most regions, with an effective date of August 10 this year for U.S. territories. The surcharge is set at $100 per 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU) and applies to all designated cargo routes utilizing the Panama Canal passage.

This surcharge will affect cargo destined for the East Coast of Central America, the Caribbean, the Leeward Islands, and the Windward Islands, as well as logistics operations bound for the East Coast of Mexico, Guyana, and northern Brazil.
The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has announced new water management measures, adjusting the permitted draft depth for Neopanamax locks in the coming weeks. This decision is based on current hydrological conditions in the watershed and the potential risk of El Niño development. According to forecasts for Lake Gatún, a draft restriction of 14.94 meters (equivalent to 49.0 feet in Tropical Fresh Water) will be implemented starting July 24, 2026. Subsequently, on August 15, 2026, the maximum permitted draft depth will be adjusted to 14.78 meters (equivalent to 48.5 feet in Tropical Fresh Water).
