After the Pinglu Canal opens to navigation, the transport distance between southwest China's hinterland and ASEAN will be shortened by over 560 kilometers
en.Wedoany.com Reported - At a press conference held by the State Council Information Office this morning, a relevant official from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region stated that after the Pinglu Canal opens to navigation, the transport distance between southwest China's hinterland and ASEAN will be shortened by more than 560 kilometers, with logistics costs reduced by 18%–30%.

According to the introduction, the Pinglu Canal is the highest-navigation-grade river-sea connecting canal in China and the world, and it will reshape the economic and geographical landscape of China-ASEAN relations. Once it opens to navigation, not only will there be an additional two-way channel for goods between the two major markets, but capital, technology, talent, and labor from southwest China and ASEAN countries will also further converge, giving rise to new cross-border investment and industrial cooperation projects.
