en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 15, the world's first hundred-gigawatt-hour (GWh)-level full-chain energy storage base—Envision AESC Yichang Gigafactory (hereinafter referred to as "Yichang Gigafactory")—officially commenced operations, with the first batch of 790 ampere-hour (Ah) large-format energy storage cells shipped to Germany.

Constructed by China Construction Second Engineering Bureau, the Yichang Gigafactory is being built in two phases. Phase I, with a 40 GWh cell production capacity, began construction in October 2025 and commenced production in less than a year. Phase II, which started construction this April, plans a 60 GWh cell production capacity and a 60 GWh energy storage system capacity. Once fully operational, it will form a full-chain high-end supply capability covering cells to systems.

The 790 Ah cell mass-produced at the Yichang Gigafactory is currently the world's largest prismatic wound cell. This cell achieves a volumetric energy density exceeding 440 watt-hours per liter (Wh/L), a cycle life of over 12,000 cycles, and a round-trip efficiency (RTE) of up to 96%. Leveraging innovations in underlying material technologies and full-process AI intelligent control, the engineering team has effectively addressed challenges related to the safety and mass production consistency of large-format cells. The 790 Ah cell has passed multiple high-risk tests and received certification from authoritative bodies.

Using the mass production of the 790 Ah large-format cell as a foundation, Envision's energy storage solutions are accelerating deployment in Yichang. In April this year, Envision AESC launched the world's first 12.5 MWh AI energy storage system, which uses the 790 Ah cell as its core hardware and deeply integrates physical AI capabilities, creating full-chain value addition for the industry.
