en.Wedoany.com Reported - BHP Group Limited released its production report for the 2026 fiscal year ending June 30 on July 16, 2026. The report shows that full-year iron ore production for the 2026 fiscal year reached a record 265 million tons (some sources report 264.7 million tons), up 1% year-on-year; copper production was 1.953 million tons (approximately 1.95 million tons), down 3% year-on-year. Additionally, steelmaking coal production was 18.6 million tons, up 3% year-on-year.

BHP is one of the world's largest listed mining companies. Founded in 1885 through the merger of Australia's BHP and the UK's Billiton, the company's global headquarters is located in Melbourne, Australia. BHP's operations cover key resources including iron ore, copper, metallurgical coal, and potash, making it the world's third-largest iron ore supplier and one of the top three copper suppliers. The company's operations are primarily concentrated in Australia, Chile, Canada, and other countries.

By business segment, iron ore operations mainly come from mines in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Although iron ore production in the fourth quarter of the 2026 fiscal year (April to June 2026) was 68.1 million tons, down 3% year-on-year, full-year production still successfully set a new historical record and exceeded the company's previously provided production guidance range of 258 million to 269 million tons.

In terms of copper operations, the 2026 fiscal year production of 1.953 million tons fell within the company's forecast range of 1.9 million to 2 million tons. Fourth-quarter copper production was 491,900 tons, down 5% year-on-year, primarily impacted by declining ore grades at Chile's Escondida copper mine and maintenance activities.

Looking ahead to the 2027 fiscal year, BHP expects iron ore production to be between 260 million and 272 million tons; due to factors such as further expected declines in ore grades at the Escondida copper mine, copper production is forecast to fall to between 1.65 million and 1.8 million tons.
