en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Açu Port Oil Terminal (T-Oil), operated by Vast Infraestrutura, announced the renewal of its contract with PETRONAS Brasil (the Brazilian subsidiary of Malaysia's national oil company), extending the partnership through the end of 2027.

Vast announces contract extension with PETRONAS Brasil through end of 2027

Vast CEO Victor Bomfim stated that the contract extension represents a strengthened partnership based on trust, operational excellence, and the company's ability to provide safe and efficient logistics solutions. This renewal reaffirms the commitment to supporting customers with world-class infrastructure and confirms the strategic importance of its terminal for Brazil's oil exports.

The renewal comes during a period of growth in oil volumes exported through the Açu Port. In 2025, Vast handled 30.6 million tons of oil, all for export. With this volume, the terminal accounted for 48% of all crude oil exported through Brazilian terminals, maintaining its leading position nationwide. This performance solidifies Vast's role as one of the main logistics partners in Brazil's oil and gas industry, providing infrastructure, operational safety, and high reliability to meet international market demand.

Vast and PETRONAS Brasil also continue their collaboration on a seabird conservation project at the port terminal. The model is based on the Açu Birds Project (Projeto Aves do Açu), an existing voluntary initiative by Vast that received support from PETRONAS Brasil in 2024. To date, approximately 484 nests of the Royal Tern (trinta-réis-de-bico-vermelho) have been identified, monitored, and protected at the terminal. Since 2024, the formation of a breeding colony of the Cayenne Tern (trinta-réis-de-bico-amarelo) has also been recorded, and since then, the successful coordination of the breeding of approximately 6,500 individuals of this species with T-Oil operations has been achieved. The new phase includes integrating multiple research areas such as breeding and population parameters, spatial dynamics and migration patterns, trophic ecology, and bird health status—an approach that is unprecedented in Brazil.

Vast Infraestrutura, a company within the Prumo Group, is a leader in the oil transshipment sector in Brazil, providing safe, clean, efficient, and sustainable liquid transport infrastructure and logistics solutions. Operating since 2016, its Oil Terminal (T-Oil) has executed over 1,300 oil transshipment operations, accounting for approximately one-third of Brazil's total oil exports. Vast is also expanding its service portfolio through the development of the Açu Liquid Terminal (TLA), a project that will help expand Brazil's logistics infrastructure for liquid transport and storage. The company has signed long-term contracts with Vibra and efen for the use of the terminal and its storage area, with construction underway and operations expected to begin by the end of 2026. TLA is designed to serve the markets for petroleum products, chemicals, and low-carbon fuels, and is part of Vast's strategy to support the energy transition, including initiatives involving the transport of biofuels and the development of solutions for future fuels such as e-methanol.
