From August 1 to September 30, the Chengdu Tianfu to Addis Ababa route will be temporarily increased from 4 to 6 weekly flights. In addition to the existing ET636/ET637 flights, new ET2636/ET2637 round-trip flights will be added. Among them, ET2637 will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays, departing from Chengdu Tianfu at 02:55 and arriving in Addis Ababa at 07:15; ET2636 will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays, departing from Addis Ababa at 10:45 and arriving at Chengdu Tianfu at 01:25 the next day. To cope with the autumn peak travel season, from October 6 to October 31, the Guangzhou to Addis Ababa route will be temporarily increased from 10 to 14 weekly flights, achieving 2 daily operations. The daily regular ET606 flight from Addis Ababa to Guangzhou (departing at 23:25, arriving at 14:40 the next day) will be supplemented by the periodic addition of ET616 flights (4 weekly). The Guangzhou to Addis Ababa route will operate daily with ET607 (departing at 00:30, arriving at 05:40), paired with the dynamically added ET617 flight.
Meanwhile, Ethiopian Airlines is accelerating the expansion of its global route network. On July 2, the airline launched a direct flight from Addis Ababa to Lyon, France, with 3 weekly flights, making Lyon its third destination in France after Paris and Marseille. On July 12, a route from Addis Ababa to Port Louis, Mauritius, was launched, operating 3 weekly flights with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
