en.Wedoany.com Reported - The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) will establish two Centers of Excellence in Ahmedabad and Guwahati to advance the country's semiconductor ecosystem. NIELIT Director General Madan Mohan Tripathi stated that this is part of the government's strategy to transition from ISM 1.0 to ISM 2.0 and strengthen the semiconductor industry.

The ISM 2.0 program, recently approved by the Cabinet with an investment of approximately 1.28 trillion rupees, places skill development at its core. Under the guidance of Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, NIELIT is focusing on advancing digital skills development and enhancing India's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities through the newly established Centers of Excellence.

The two centers in Ahmedabad and Guwahati will provide training in OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) and ATMP (Advanced Packaging and Manufacturing Processes). NIELIT has established partnerships with companies such as Tata Electronics and Infineon, while also offering BTech, MTech, and diploma programs. Additionally, through collaboration with Semiconductor Complex Limited in Mohali, NIELIT provides hands-on manufacturing experience while expanding into emerging technology areas such as Artificial Intelligence.
