en.Wedoany.com Reported - Ignis has reached an agreement with UK-based Apto to secure grid access and renewable energy supply for the latter's new data center campus under development in Fuenlabrada, Madrid, Spain. Ignis will also build the necessary power infrastructure, including lines and substations, to connect the complex to the grid.

The agreement leverages Ignis's established position at this grid node, where it owns renewable energy assets, transmission infrastructure, and sufficient access capacity. Power supply is enabled through 82 MW of access and connection capacity, accompanied by a bilateral power purchase agreement linked to a 94 MW solar photovoltaic plant developed and built by Ignis.
The Fuenlabrada campus covers 195,000 square meters, located 14 kilometers from downtown Madrid on the site of a former bottling plant. The project is expected to involve an investment of over €2 billion, including landscaping with thousands of trees and shrubs, as well as the construction of trails and recreational areas. The project is part of Apto's strategy to develop sustainable data centers in Europe through long-term investments linked to renewable energy generation. The company is a member of the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact, an initiative aimed at making data centers climate neutral by 2030.
The data center design eliminates water-based evaporative cooling systems, opting instead for high-efficiency air-cooled chillers.
According to a release from Ignis, the company currently operates and has under construction over 1 GW of self-owned generation capacity, manages a total of 10 GW of owned and third-party assets, and operates 31 facilities with voltage regulation capabilities, with an active power of 1,354 MW and reactive power regulation capacity exceeding 410 MVAr.
