en.Wedoany.com Reported - JA Solar and Medisun Technology Co., Ltd. signed an ecological partnership memorandum at the Chengdu International Diving and Resort Expo. The two parties will leverage the integration of photovoltaic and water treatment technologies to provide an integrated "solar-storage smart energy + seawater desalination recovery + ESG" solution for zero-carbon solar-water ecology, addressing water resource and low-carbon development challenges in island scenarios.

According to the memorandum, JA Solar will utilize its JAx ecological platform to deliver underlying green energy capabilities, providing integrated products for photovoltaics, energy storage, and smart energy, while integrating ESG, digitalization, and market brand resources to oversee the deployment of the entire green power energy system and the establishment of the business model. Medisun, with core processes and R&D manufacturing capabilities in seawater desalination and concentrated brine treatment for freshwater production, will provide water treatment equipment and technical specification support for coastal and island projects.
Islands and coastal protected areas face challenges such as high power supply costs, insufficient water supply, and significant carbon emission pressure from seawater desalination equipment. Taking a coral conservation base in China as an example, activities such as volunteer living, equipment washing, and environmental monitoring require substantial amounts of freshwater. During peak activity periods, the daily water demand of volunteers at the base exceeds 7,000 liters. Rainwater collection provides unstable water supply, while sea transportation generates fuel emissions and pollution.
This collaboration targets the zero-carbon solar-water ecology sector, focusing on coastal and offshore island regions as primary application scenarios. By driving seawater desalination with renewable green electricity, it aims to achieve low-carbon management and ESG value realization, addressing the issues of high energy consumption, high carbon emissions, and high operational costs in traditional desalination projects.
This partnership with Medisun is part of the cross-sector ecological layout of JA Solar's JAx industry solution platform. JA Solar stated that it will leverage the open JAx ecosystem to collaborate with partners in agriculture, cultural tourism, industry, and other fields, promoting the application of clean energy across more industries.
