en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 20, French asset management firm Eiffel Investment Group partnered with Polish energy investment company Ergy to jointly invest in battery energy storage systems in Poland. Their first collaborative project is the Baczyna energy storage project, with a capacity of 46MW/184MWh, located in western Poland, which will proceed to construction preparation and implementation phases.
The Baczyna energy storage project has obtained key permits, grid connection rights, and a long-term capacity market contract, providing the foundational conditions for advancing construction. Under the cooperation arrangement, Eiffel will provide long-term infrastructure investment support, while Ergy will be responsible for project acquisition, development, financing, construction, and operation. The energy storage project is expected to commence commercial operation in 2028, primarily aimed at enhancing the flexibility of Poland's power system.
Poland's power system is increasing its renewable energy capacity, and the role of battery energy storage projects in peak shaving, reserve capacity, frequency support, and renewable energy integration is growing. As the first project under this partnership, the Baczyna energy storage project will serve as a reference for the acquisition and development of additional energy storage assets in the future. The cooperation also receives support from the EU's InvestEU Fund. The subsequent progress of the Baczyna energy storage project will depend on construction organization, equipment procurement, grid connection works, and the execution of the capacity market contract.
