China's Huineng Group Launches 67.5 Billion Yuan Coal-Based Solid Waste Comprehensive Utilization Project

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 19, the 6-million-ton coal gangue and fly ash solid waste resource utilization integrated source-grid-load-storage project of Huineng Group officially commenced in the Dalu Industrial Park of Jungar Economic Development Zone.

The total investment for the project is estimated at 67.5 billion yuan. Upon completion, it will be capable of consuming 6 million tons of coal-based solid waste annually, producing 2 million tons of aluminum-silicon and silicon-aluminum-titanium multi-alloys, with a supporting total installed capacity of 8 GW for wind and solar power. The first phase, involving an investment of 36 billion yuan for 1 million tons of aluminum-silicon alloy and the source-grid-load-storage project, will consume 2.6 million tons of coal-based solid waste annually after operation, achieving an annual industrial output value of 16 billion yuan, generating annual tax revenue of 2.2 billion yuan, and creating an estimated over 4,000 new jobs.

The project plans to build a complete source-grid-load-storage integrated industrial system in conjunction with supporting wind power, photovoltaic, waste heat power generation, and energy storage projects, aiming to establish China's largest high-aluminum coal-based solid waste resource comprehensive utilization base and a benchmark source-grid-load-storage project.

Jungar Banner, where the Jungar Economic Development Zone is located, is a major coal-producing region in China, generating large quantities of coal gangue and fly ash annually. The implementation of this project provides a solution for the large-scale, high-value utilization of coal-based solid waste. After the first phase is operational, it will consume 2.6 million tons of coal-based solid waste annually, achieving an annual industrial output value of 16 billion yuan, generating annual tax revenue of 2.2 billion yuan, and creating an estimated over 4,000 new jobs. Upon full completion, the project's annual coal-based solid waste consumption capacity will increase to 6 million tons, with an annual production of 2 million tons of multi-alloys. The project forms a closed loop from solid waste consumption and energy supply to material production, offering a reference path for resource-based regions to explore industrial transformation.
